Tom is the founder and president of LaPlant, which opened its doors in 1991.
He brings our clients more than 40 years of consulting experience in the healthcare industry. During his career, Tom has worked with a diverse array of providers—from major academic medical centers, regional healthcare systems, community hospitals, and small rural hospitals to providers of home health, home infusion and hospice. His areas of expertise include revenue cycle assessment and improvement, reimbursement recovery, interim management, and IT projects in the healthcare industry. He has extensive experience implementing patient accounting, patient access, medical records and general ledger applications and in leading operational and system assessment and improvement projects.
Prior to founding LaPlant, Tom spent 10 years with Andersen Consulting/Arthur Andersen & Co. as a consultant in its healthcare industry consulting practice. He was primarily involved in revenue cycle assessment and improvement projects, as well as various IT projects.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan, with a concentration in information systems. He has been a member of HFMA since the early 1990s.
David Angiuli
David brings our clients over 26 years of hands-on experience in the healthcare industry. He has worked with a wide array of healthcare providers, including major academic medical centers, regional healthcare systems, children’s hospitals, public district hospitals, physician group practices, and home health/home infusion/hospice providers.
David brings deep expertise in revenue cycle assessment and improvement, reimbursement recovery, and patient accounting IT system improvement and installation projects in the healthcare industry. Our clients benefit from his experience with many Epic applications, including Epic Resolute PB, EpicCare Ambulatory, ADT, Cadence, and Prelude. He has extensive experience with Epic’s Resolute Hospital Billing and Charge Router applications, and he holds the following Epic Certifications: Resolute Hospital Billing Administrator and Resolute Hospital Billing Charge Capture CDM. In addition to Epic, David also has expertise in other leading patient accounting systems, including McKesson Star, Cerner Profit, Siemens Invision, Meditech, Mestamed, and McKesson Pathways. His expertise in electronic claim systems includes PREMIS, ePREMIS, MMIS, and the Florida Shared System for Medicare. He has extensive experience with Medicaid and other payor groups.He has served many interim leadership roles in revenue cycle, IT and business office management.
Prior to joining LaPlant, David worked for nine years in the investment and newspaper industries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Washington.
